Maris Piper is the choice of the chip shops. It is the cooking and frying qualities of Piper that made this potato stand out from the rest and today it is still grown on a large commercial scale.
The tubers are oval in shape with a white skin and cream coloured flesh.
It is also a good long-term storage potato.
