Attractive, compact plants producing good yields of glossy, plump and juicy, box-shaped chillies. With a practical mild to medium heat, they are suitable for the widest range of dishes. The dwarf plants are a great size for patio containers and even a bright windowsill indoors. Plants are dual purpose in that they can be used to provide an attractive display as well as a productive crop which is quick to mature.
Sow indoors, a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow 0.5cm (¼”) deep, thinly in a pot of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Transplant to individual pots when large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out to large pots or containers, when frosts are over. Choose a warm, sunny, sheltered spot or plant out into growing bags or the greenhouse borders. Greenhouse crops will generally be earlier and larger than outdoor ones.
