Sow and Grow:
Sow: Indoors, February-May, 0.5 cm (1/4-inch) deep, on edge, in small pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 20-25 degree C (68-77 degree F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days.
When plants have developed 3 or 4 leaves, transplant to 12 cm (5-inch) pots and grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out, April-June, to large pots, growing bags, or into fertile, well-drained soil in the greenhouse border.
Harvest: July-October.
Hints and Tips:
Cucumbers do best in a humid atmosphere, so damp down greenhouse regularly. Once fruits form, regular feeding will ensure the best crops.
Care and Cultivation:
Provide support and train plants up canes, strings or netting. Stop lateral growth, two leaves past each fruit.
