Beetroot Renova Seeds from Mr Fothergill's Seeds and Plants.
Easier for the gardener and the cook! A high quality cylindrical beet with good flavour and texture and few internal rings. So easy for slicing.
Plus, being amonogermit means less need for thinning as only 1 or 2 seedlings are produced per cluster.
Sow & Grow:
Outdoors: Sow thinly, April-July, where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1") deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-cultivated, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30cm (1') between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days.
Thin seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Water well until plants are established.
Regular sowings, made every three weeks, should ensure a continuous supply of young beets.
Harvest: July-October.
Hints & Tips:
Twist the leaves off to prevent the colour 'bleeding.' Harvest alternate beets from 5cm (2") diameter, leaving others space to develop.
