Hibiscrub® For use on Dogs:

There are no specific rules about exactly how to use hibiscrub on dogs. However there are some important points to note:

Hibiscrub should be left on the affected area of your dog for at least 5 minutes in order to be effective. If left for less than 5 minutes, the efficacy will be reduced.

Hibiscrub should be diluted before being applied to your dog. Veterinarians recommend using 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts water for more serious irritations and infections. For mild irritations the recommendation is 1 part hibiscrub to 10 parts water.

  • Before using hibiscrub on your dog, thoroughly clean and wash your hands with antibacterial hand wash. You can also use a small amount of hibiscrub to wash your hands.
  • Next, create a solution of hibiscrub and water. For more serious infections, use 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts water. If it’s only a mild irritation, then you can dilute it by up to 10 parts water. Apply the hibiscrub mix to the affected area of your dog. Gently rub the hibiscrub into the affected area until a foam is formed.
  • Once a foam is formed, leave the scrub on the skin for five minutes. This is because hibiscrub is most effective at treating conditions when left on the affected area for at least five minutes.
  • After five minutes have passed, rinse off the scrub and pat dry the affected area with a clean cloth or towel.

It may be the case that a vet has directly advised you to use hibiscrub on your dog. If so, they may also have advised you to use an ointment or lotion on the area after, or asked you to apply a dressing to the affected area on your dog. So be sure to follow your vet’s instructions.

It’s also advisable that you perform a small patch test on your dog first before using hibiscrub on a larger area of your dog. This is to ensure your dog has no adverse reactions to the scrub.

Can You Put Hibiscrub On Dogs?

Yes, you can put hibiscrub on dogs. Hibiscrub is a disinfectant antiseptic that’s completely safe to use on dogs. Hibiscrub is widely used by veterinarians in clinical settings. But it’s also easily available for purchase by ordinary dog and pet owners to use in home settings. This is because hibiscrub is an OTC (over the counter drug) and doesn’t require a prescription.

Hibiscrub is very successful in treating a variety of skin conditions and infections in dogs. This is because its active ingredient, chlorhexidine gluconate eliminates germs, bacteria and fungi. Although hibiscrub is safe for dogs, be sure to consult a veterinarian about your dog’s particular issue before you use hibiscrub on your pooch.

Can You Give Hibiscrub To A Dog Orally?

No, hibiscrub must never be taken orally by a dog. Do not allow your dog to ingest or drink it. Hibiscrub is for external use only. If you have used hibiscrub in your dog’s mouth, or your dog has ingested it, then you should seek advice from a veterinarian.

Do you Need To Dilute Hibiscrub For Dogs?

It is necessary to dilute hibiscrub before using it. You shouldn’t apply undiluted hibiscrub directly to the affected area on your dog. Start with one part hibiscrub to four parts water, and gently work it into the dogs skin until a foam is formed. Leave the solution on the affected area for at least five minutes. You can also dilute the solution down even further, if your dog only has a very mild skin irritation. If so, then use one part hibiscrub to ten parts water.

Do You Have To Wash Hibiscrub Off Dogs?

Yes, you should thoroughly rinse off hibiscrub. However, you should only do this after you gently rubbed hibiscrub into the affected area on your dog and allowed it to foam. Then you should leave the scrub on the area for five minutes. After five minutes have passed you should thoroughly rinse off the hibiscrub and dry the area.

One of the benefits of hibiscrub is that it has a residual effect of up to 6 hours. This means that it can continue to be effective in eliminating fungi and bacteria for up to 6 hours after it’s been washed off your dog’s skin.

Can You Use Hibiscrub On Dogs Open Wounds?

No, you must never apply hibiscrub to open wounds or angry wounds on a dog. Hibiscrub is a very effective disinfectant that can eliminate bacteria, fungi and germs. However, it’s not designed to aid in the healing of existing wounds. There are other products available that are designed to be applied to open wounds on a dog in order to aid healing. If hibiscrub has been applied to an open wound then you should seek advice from a veterinarian right away.

Itchy And Dry Skin All Over Your Dog

If your dog has itchy skin all over their body, then you should bathe your dog in diluted hibiscrub. Hibiscrub is a powerful antiseptic solution that can treat a range of viruses, bacterial infections and fungi. Firstly, ensure you clean and wash your hands. Next, fill your bath or large plastic container with 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts warm water.

Mix the solution thoroughly. Then pour the liquid all over your dog’s body so that your dog is fully saturated. Next, while your dog is wet, use your hands to rub the solution thoroughly but gently into your dog’s skin.

Leave the solution on your dog for 5 minutes. Hibiscrub is most effective when left on the affected area for at least 5 minutes. Next, rinse the hibiscrub solution off your dog with plenty of clean warm water. Rinse your dog as many times as is required to ensure the hibiscrub has been completely washed off. Using a clean towel, pat your dog down so they are semi dry, and then let the rest of the drying occur naturally.

Itchy And Dry Skin On One Or Two Patches Of Your Dog

If there’s only a patch of itchy skin on your dog, then it’s not necessary to give your dog a full hibiscrub bath. In that case, you can apply a diluted mix of hibiscrub and water directly to the affected area on your dog. Firstly, wash your hands. Next, create a mix of 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts water. Then apply a small amount of hibiscrub mix to the affected area. Rub in the scrub until a foam is created. Leave the scrub on your dog’s skin for five minutes, and then rinse off the scrub. Dry the affected area using a clean towel or cloth.

Make sure you don’t pour the hibiscrub solution near your dog’s ears, eyes or mouth.

It’s also recommended that you do a small patch test on your dog first before using hibiscrub on a larger area of your dog. This is to make sure your dog doesn’t have a negative reaction to the scrub.

How To Use Hibiscrub On Dogs Paws

Hibiscrub can be used on dog’s paws in different ways. One way is to use a plastic container to create a hibiscrub solution. Use 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts warm water. Mix the solution thoroughly. Next, place your dog’s paw(s) in the solution and let them soak for 5 minutes. Then thoroughly rinse the paw(s) with clean warm water until the solution has been washed off.

You should never can soak your dog’s paw(s) without diluting the hibiscrub. This is because hibiscrub needs to be diluted before using it.

Another way to use hibiscrub on your dog’s paws is to soak a cotton wool pad in diluted hibiscrub. Next, press the cotton wool pad against the affected area on your dog’s paw. You can also gently rub the pad into the paw. Do this for 5 minutes. Next, rinse your dog’s paw with clean warm water.

Can You Use Hibiscrub On Dog’s Eyes

No, you must never use hibiscrub on dog’s eyes. This advice applies regardless of whether you are using hibiscrub diluted or undiluted, although hibiscrub should be used diluted only. Hibiscrub can be very harmful if applied to the eyes and can cause eye ulcers and other visual impairments. Hibiscrub is not designed to treat any type of eye conditions in dogs. If you have applied hibiscrub to your dog’s eyes you should seek the attention of a veterinarian immediately.

Can You Use Hibiscrub On Dogs Ears?

It’s ok to use hibiscrub on the outside of your dog’s ears. However, you should not use hibiscrub inside your dog’s ears. Hibiscrub is explicitly for external use only. Using hibiscrub inside your dog’s ears could cause ear ulcers and other ear complications. Veterinarians recommend you use 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts water. You can also use a more diluted solution of 1 part hibiscrub to 10 parts water if your dog only has a very minor skin irritation. Keep in mind that antibacterial formulas and antiseptic lotions become less effective the more you dilute them with water.

Full Hibiscrub Bath

If your dog’s yeast infection is on the skin, then it’s advisable to bathe the dog in a diluted hibiscrub solution, or do a spot treatment on your dog. If the yeast infection is all over the dog’s body, then a hibiscrub bath is recommended.

To do this, fill a bathtub with 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts warm water. Mix this solution and pour it all over your dog until your dog is fully saturated. Be sure to avoid pouring the solution near your dog’s eyes, mouth or ears.

While the dog is wet, use your hands to work the solution into your dog’s skin. Rub gently but thoroughly and allow a foam to build up. Leave the solution on your dog for five minutes. After five minutes, rinse your dog thoroughly with warm clean water. Continue to rinse your dog until all the hibiscrub has been washed off.

If the yeast infection is concentrated in one specific patch on your dog, then you can do a spot treatment, instead of a full bath. To do this, create a solution of 1 part hibiscrub to 4 parts water. Apply a small amount of the hibiscrub mix to the affected area. Rub the scrub into the skin until a foam is formed. Leave the hibiscrub on the skin for five minutes. After five minutes, rinse the affected area with clean warm water. Dry the affected area by patting it with a clean cloth or towel.

Hibiscrub should be used on a daily basis on a dog until the skin infection or condition has been cleared up and eliminated. Typically, this would be around two to three weeks. However, if your dog’s condition has not improved after that time, then it could be the sign of a more serious issue. In that case, you should stop using hibiscrub and seek the attention of your veterinarian.
