Barrettine Black Bitumen Paint 5L

A solution of Bitumen giving an initial gloss finish, weathering to a matt black coating. For the protection of metal and concrete

SURFACE PREPARATION:

The surface to be coated must be free from rust, scale, dirt and unbonded or incompatible paint. Oil and grease should be removed with Barrettine White Spirit. It may be advantageous to apply a coat of an anti-corrosive primer to metal surfaces prior to applying Bitumen.

APPLICATION:

Stir before use. Apply by brush roller or spray, care being taken to coat thoroughly all recessed edges, rivets and bolts. New or relatively new galvanised sheeting must be cleaned/ degreased and preferably primed with a mordant solution or similar treatment.

IMPORTANT: Do not apply over tar based products, normal pigmented paints or surfaces that can rise above 65o C. Keep and store upright at all times especially in transit. Material should be stored out of direct sunlight at 8-25o C.

NUMBER OF COATS:

Two recommended, however in severe conditions three coats for maximum protection. Allow 24 hours drying time between coats.

DRYING TIME:

4-12 hours depending on conditions.

FINISH:

Gloss on application. However strong sunlight will quickly cause loss of gloss followed later by a form of “Chalking”. This however is confined to the surface and provided adequate coatings have been applied protection is not impaired. THINNERS: Not normally required, however the paint may be diluted with BSS245 Barrettine White Spirit in order to adjust the viscosity for spraying.

CLEANING:

Tool etc may be cleaned with Barrettine White Spirit. EU Limit Value For This Product: (Cat. A/i) 600g/litre (2007) / 500g/litre (2010) This product contains max 355g/litre

• Application: Brush, can be sprayed if diluted minimally with White Spirit but will need several coats.
